Does it work on my Mac?

Stealward runs on Mac, iPad, and iPhone on macOS 26 and iOS/iPadOS 26 or later. Any of them can be the device you leave behind.
Movement sensing on Mac
Movement sensing is strongest on MacBook models with Apple silicon, where Stealward can sense the machine being moved — even with the lid closed. On other Macs — including desktops — motion sensing may be limited or unavailable. Those Macs still notice if the device is unplugged or goes offline, still sound the alarm, and still show the armed cover.
If your plan includes the camera, they also have AI Watchdog as a visual backstop, watching your belongings and alerting you to threats. On a desktop Mac in particular, that’s worth turning on. See plans and pricing.
If you have a choice, a MacBook with Apple silicon gives you the fullest set of signals.
Getting a good result
- Position the Mac so its camera has a clear view of what you want watched. On a desktop Mac, a connected external camera works too.
- Leave it on power for longer sessions.
- Keep another device with you to receive alerts. On a Mac, alerts arrive while the Stealward app is running, so leave it open if a Mac is where you want them.
Installing it
Download the Mac app from the download page. Open the downloaded disk image and double-click the Stealward icon inside. It installs itself in your Applications folder and opens. After that, it updates automatically, so you only need to install it once.
